What is the definition of "vlogging"? -Vlogging is when you produce a blog but you do so in the form of a video.
Who are three current and popular vloggers? What do they vlog about? -Danisnotonfire -Romanatwoodvlogs -CaseyNeistat
What are the qualities of a vlog? -Like a story, a vlog has the same parts: an intro, a mid-section, and an ending. Often included are video transitions, jumpcuts and perhaps some music. Many of the qualities of the vlog are up to the interpretation of the vlogger and his style of video.
Reflect upon the topics and personalities of these vloggers. Identify the topics/personalities. Will they keep their topic in the future? -Danisnotonfire - Dan's videos follow silly comedic themes that appeal to a younger aged audience. He of course does whatever he wants though -Romanatwodvlogs - Roman's vlogs follow his personal life, but he attempts to add dramatic elements to it to spice it up for views. He will likely be doing this for a long time guaranteed the revenue he makes from it. -CaseyNeistat - Casey's vlogs follow his daily activites, his thoughts on political or social topics, or discussing his interests, like cycling. He will keep making videos unless he finds newer opportunities in his life.
Reflect on the permanency of online life. These vlogs will be around potentially forever, even after the vloggers have removed them from the online presence. How will these vlogs effect the future careers or choices of these vloggers?
Given that these videos on the internet could definitely be a permanent thing, it could negatively impact their future career choices because vlogging and YouTube videos sometimes have a negative stigma surrounding them, deeming the individual as immature or unprofessional.
If you were to start vlogging, what topics would you vlog about?
I would vlog about my interests, or something I have knowledge of and am happy to release to the public. Probably music, music theory, or piano tutorials.
Think about the topics/issues identified in qu 6, will you have the same opinion in the future?
I feel that as I grow as a person, my tastes will change. At this point I dont think that my taste will differ too far from music. Maybe my favorite genre will change or my general interest will shift from rhythm to tempo to notation, to arranging. But all of those subjects still dont stray far from music and would still be welcome on my you tube channel.
What the the long term repercussions consequences, and benefits to these vloggers?
Vloggers need to be ready for being recognized in public potentially by fans interested in their content, or perhaps even being pranked, hacked, having their information spread, simply because it is common for them to be targetted. These consequences are traded off with the fact that it can be very satisfying to indulge yourself in your interests.
If you were a parent would you let your 10 year old vlog? Why or why not?
I would absolutely not just due to the sheer amount of repurcussions and consequences that come with people who decide to vlog.
Please talk about one other issue/comments/thoughts that you feel is important about vlogging that I did not address in these questions. I feel that vlogging is a job that is very underpayed through ad revenue. Many creators who put alot of effort into short 5 minute videos recieve less money than people who record random events in long 11 minute videos, and that balance causes alot of chaos in the youtube community.
Provide a link to a vlog that you mentioned above that 'Ms. Cameron needs to watch' (please ensure that it is classroom appropriate and 1-5 mins in length)
