Reflection Sheet
Creativity and Personal Spin
I give myself a 8 seeing as I placed an object into my own hand and also added a color effect to my work.
Technical Aspects
I tried out a few new techniques this project, including cutting a part of my thumb onto an above layer to make it seem as though my thumb is above the gatorade bottle. I give myself an 8.
Creation of Drawings
I think this art could work out as a standalone piece of art, seeing it as entertainment aspects found in all sorts of pieces. I give myself a 7.
Originality
This image is original in that I did things that other students haven't. I placed a handheld object into my own hand, and added an artistic flair by having the cutout be held by a hand. I posed in the picture accordingly and tried to make the colours more vibrant.
Final Reflection
My ideas develloped through me tactically searching the art room for an object to incorporate into my work. I knew I wanted it to include a picture of me and I wanted a comedy aspect, but also pass as a reasonable class project. I grapped a soap container and acted like I was drinking out of it as a joke, then realized I could jsut use that as my project. I went to Mike in my class for what to replace what with paper, and he suggested I draw a gatorade bottle. I did that and with a little effort the cut out did not look bad. I think that as I was finalizing my ideas I changed my outlook on the project: the gatorade bottle would be a different shape, i would stick my tongue out in the picture, I would go against a white background and not just a simple wall in the classroom. These changes in my ideas are important and a reason that I got the end result that I wanted. I spent about two class periods working where I plugged my phone into the computer, extracted the pictures, and cut them as I needed for use in the project. The next class, I took all the prepared cutouts and applied them to my best picture, then changed the colors and exported it, before putting it on my website. If I were to do this project again I would probably do multiple cut outs or more pictures because I only did a small change to a picture, rather than redrawing a portion of the picture or adding something new. My favorite aspect of the project was drawing a gatorade bottle, but it was also the most difficult. Rather than working smart I worked hard on the project, tediously going through layers and changing opacity and cutting away what I dont want, but I just got through it by listening to music. I probably couldve used my tools better but I didin't think of it at the time.
