Peter Power
Peter Power is a photographer based in Toronto. He has been a photographer for around 3 decades, primarily in Canada. Peter Power is very famous for partnering with popular, very wealthy individuals as well as businesses looking for a great photo to use for commercial use or coverage. He began his work independently in 2014, just after going to a strict military school and becoming an Officer Cadet in the Canadian Military. Photography had always been a passion of his, through high school to his military career. One day in 1987 he was visiting Loyalist College, with his original intent to register for a night school course. He planned on maintaining his skills in French. While he was there, he spotted a poster. This poster featured advertisements for a photo-journalism course. After seeing this, he decided to take the course and put his military career on hold. With the help of the course he became very skilled in photography and thus, very popular. His photos depict people in various poses, from candid's to formal photos. What makes them great is the diversity found throughout many of his works: some of his photos are black and white, while others are filled to the brim with colors, or follow a specific palette. Some of them are zoomed in, complete with a focused lens, and others are taken crudely from a distance. Ultimately, it comes down to whatever is best for the shot. I think that the diversity is what makes his work noteworthy and interesting. He uses several composition techniques like the rule of thirds and symmetrical balance. Overall this was a very interesting photographer to do some research on, and I am glad I chose him.
