The beginning of this project stems from me determining that I would like to do a clay stop motion. I know that I don't have all that great art skills, so I decided I would focus on a simple story rather than beautiful, magnificently sculpted visuals. I chose Jaden to tag along with me, as he could prove useful: give insight into the story, purchase clay for me, and do some musical planning. He also aided me in recording audio for this film. So once we had the whole plan ready, we set into motion: Jaden bought the clay and we took turns working the clay into balls and sculpting small figures.
After a very fun classroom session of playing with clay, we decided on a simple small figure with a head and base. Our original plan involved these large gargantuan figures, but I made them smaller so I could add some girth to the cave. In the end, we didint have enough grey anyways, so the figures look predominantly large compared to the cave. We produced a few pictures and were significantly pleased with the results.
We went through with the animation, carefully paying attention to the storyboard. We then took the pictures, threw them into movie maker, and spliced together the film, but not after we added a few extra vocal samples. Upon reflection, this is a very crude animated work, but I think it is awesome for a starting point. Ive never done stop motion animation before, and I loved some of the ideas my group cameup with.
